Histoical Leader: Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria ruled over England from  June 20, 1837 to January 22, 1901.  She reigned for 63 years and 7 months.  This reign lasted longer then any other British Monarch.  Her years of reign are known as the Victorian era where industrial, cultural, political, scientific, and military progress took place in Great Britain.
Queen Victoria knew that it was time for a change.  The Victorian era saw the biggest change in Britain's history.  Queen Victoria created jobs for the thousands of unemployed and built factories, museums and theaters, encouraging knowledge and prosperity among her people.  She enforced the constructing and usage of railways and steam ships, which were new at this point.  There were also new medical discoveries.  Doctors started to use anesthetics while they worked on patients.  Schooling also became an import part of a child's life.  Before, only 20% of children in London were attending school.  By 1860, more then half of children in London were attending both public school and Sunday school.  Queen Victoria industrialized England and changed the country and the way its people live forever.
